Buying a new computer can be a daunting task especially if you have little or no knowledge of computers. In this case it is hard to know what the right computer for you may be. Also when you can spend as little as a few hundred dollars and go up to easily a few thousand dollars you do not want to be paying more for what you need or thinking you got a bargain and ended up with something that does not meet your requirements . Here I will briefly show you the important information you need when you decide to buy a new computer.
When you go into a store to buy your computer you will see next to the computer you are looking at something that explains the system specifications of the machine. If this seems like watching at a foreign language to you fear not I will explain this important information to you.
First lets look at the systems processor. It should either be an AMD or an Intel processor. Intel at the moment seems to have a faster processor if you are looking for speed. Make sure though that it is a Duo or Quad Core system.
Next we want to look at the memory (RAM). This one of the most important parts of your purchase. Many times when a computer is running slow people mistake it for the speed of their processor. In most cases though it is because of a lack of sufficient RAM or memory. If you have multiple programs or windows running at once and your computer seems to be running slow this is probably because your computer is lacking enough memory. You should never go for less than 1 GB of ram but more is better.
Now lets look at the hard drive. Think of the hard drive as a warehouse for your computer. This is where it stores all your programs and downloads. This includes music and videos. If your going to be storing a lot of music and video on your computer you will definitely need a large hard drive. Make sure it is at least 100 GB though. Any less and you will find it hard to store everything you want.
These are the most important things you need to look for when buying a computer for general use. Any extra features that are on the computer are really up to personal preference such as light up keyboard and so on. Now that you understand what you are looking for make sure that you shop around. Computers are a very competitive product. Check at least three different locations for what you are looking for. Also look online and for sales. Sales are always pending and do not seem to be seasonal. That should cover what you need to find the right computer for you at the right price.
